The 6th Institutional Web Management Workshop took place at the University Of Strathclyde on 18-20th June 2002.

The theme of the workshop was "The Pervasive Web". The title reflects the all-pervasive nature of the Web within Higher and Further education.

As can be seen from the timetable the workshop covered a range of topics of interest to members of Web management teams and other related staff in Higher and Further Educational Institutions. Topics covered include Web site management, knowledge management, portals, Web strategies, Web site re-engineering, usability, evaluation, e-learning, Web standards, metadata, XML, server scripting, etc.

The format of the workshop consisted of a mixture of presentations, discussion groups, demonstrations and hands-on sessions. All of the speakers were experienced Web practitioners from the Higher and Further Education communities, who are aware of the issues and concerns involved in institutional Web management.

This year's event featured a number of new developments including a lively debate on two topics of interest to Web managers.

In addition to the formal programme there was also a social programme. This included a ceilidh (with buffet meal) and a wine reception.

Cost of Workshop

The cost of the workshop was £325 for delegates from the Higher and Further Education communities. This includes workshop materials, meals (except evening meals on the 17th and 19th June), the social programme and accommodation for the nights of 17th/18th/19th June. The workshop will cost £250 for those who do not require accommodation. Please see the booking form for fees for non-HE/FE delegates.

Please note that the official closing date for bookings was Tuesday 4th June 2002. However as this is a Bank Holiday, we accepted bookings until Wednesday 5th June 2002. After this date we reserved the right to charge a late booking fee or not to accept the booking.
