Introduction

WP3 develops a complementary schema registry and schema creation facility that will support sharing and publishing of DC and IEEE LOM schemas and application profiles within the JISC IE. ILRT is building a Schema Registry Web Interface which allows human users to create new schemas and Application Profiles and to browse and search existing application profiles.

Technical Work

There are several parts to the technical work in this WP:

  1. Development of the schema creation desktop client
  2. Development of the registry data server
  3. Development of the registry website server
  4. Development of initial data for the registry
  5. Demonstration IEMSR registry

The client and registry server software are based on the earlier open source development for the MEG Registry project from 2002 but with the much updated data model of the IEMSR project and substantial new software development to give an updated client and website./p>

Development Process

The IEMSR work is done as Open Source software development using SourceForge to provide the code CVS and release support. The IEMSR work is done in the SourceForge schemas project which hosts the CVS repository and provides live browsing of the CVS for the source code and checking out of IEMSR sources from CVS.

Technical developers on the project: Dave Beckett (DB), Pete Johnston (PJ), Simon Price (SP) and Nikki Rogers (NR).

Running the Software

See Running the Client part of the desktop client web page, the data server or website server pages for the other software.

All the software can be retrieved from the schemas SourceForge site in the files area.
