Background
Nedstat UK are one of the commercial
sponsors
for this year's Institutional Web Management Workshop, held in Bath in June 2006.
Sector Statistics (Sector Stats)
Objectives
After discussions with various people in the education sector it became clear
that there was a requirement for some industry wide statistics about Web site activity.
These Sector Statistics will provide organisations, specifically universities,
with a means of benchmarking the performance of their Web site.
Nedstat are pleased to be sponsoring this study following comments and feedback
received at the
Institutional
Web Management Workshop 2005.
Key principles
- These benchmarking statistics will only be available to those institutions
that participate in the project. And will also be distributed through the community.
- These statistics will not reflect individual organisations.
This will be a 'University' benchmarking exercise using aggregated data.
Implementation
The Sector Statistics measurements will run from 1 March - 14 March 2006.
The implementation cycle will soon take place. Institutions who would like to
participate are required to:
- Contact Ranjit Sidhu by 24 February 2006 (R.Sidhu@nedstat.com)
with details of the organisation wishing to participate.
- Agree to Nedstat's terms and conditions.
- Place the non distinguishable piece of code issued by Nedstat on the homepage
- Guarantee that the code will be removed at the end of the period.
Results
The findings of the Nedstat Sector Statistics will be presented at an event
at the Charlotte Street Hotel, London on 30 March 2006. Afterwards a summary will
be sent to the website-info-mtg and web-support JISCMail lists.
The data will also be presented and discussed at the Institutional Web Managers Workshop 2006 in Bath.
