Conclusions

The majority of the delegates found use of networked applications during the event to be useful and would encourage use at future events. There were a number of concerns expressed regarding the potential for distraction which could be caused to others and the dangers of lack of attention during talks.

However the experiment with the provision of networked applications during the event appeared to be successful and has helped to identify areas in which in may be necessary to address issues raised. For example, it may be useful to ensure that users are provided with further opportunities to familiarise themselves with applications prior to events and to ensure that they know how to disable sounds on their PCs.
