CLDs in practice
The decision has been made to create collection level descriptions for your library, archive, museum or gallery, but where do you go from here?
The first step is planning a collection level description programme. The programme should cover identifying collections to be included, choosing a schema and database platform, working with standards, and meet user requirements.
As part of the planning process user requirements will need to be identified. This should cover the needs of both end users and collection managers - see meeting user requirements for further details.
The next stage is creating individual collection level descriptions.
See some examples of collection level descriptions and schemas.
