1. The post

We are seeking to recruit a Web Manager to manage both the redevelopment of a web presence for the International e-Framework for Education and Research and to develop a new site for the JISC Information Environment ‘Technical Foundations’. This post is a 2-year fixed contract.

e-Framework

The e-Framework for Education and Research is an international initiative that provides information to institutions on investing in and using information technology infrastructure. It advocates service-oriented approaches to facilitate technical interoperability of core infrastructure as well as effective use of available funding. More information can be found at http://www.e-framework.org/

The post-holder will engage in a process of stakeholder-analysis (a preliminary stage of this has been carried out) and requirements definition, and will then develop and implement a new web presence to meet these requirements.

JISC Information Environment

The JISC Information Environment Programme is a JISC Programme which will provide a range of services, tools and mechanisms for colleges and universities to exploit fully the value of online resources and services. It will enable presentation, delivery and use of online resources in ways tailored to support individual and institutional requirements in learning, teaching and research.

More information can be found at http://www.jisc.ac.uk/whatwedo/themes/informationenvironment.aspx

Some previous material relating to the JISC Information’s ‘Technical Foundation’ can be found at http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/jisc-ie/

UKOLN are about to undertake a technical review of JISC’s Information Environment and will be developing a new suite of materials to inform its ‘technical foundations’. The post-holder will design and deliver a new web presence at UKOLN to deliver these materials effectively to the appropriate audiences.

This position provides an excellent opportunity to enhance valuable skills in an interesting environment at the leading edge of digital information developments. The post holder will work within the Systems and Software Team at UKOLN and contribute to the International e-Framework for Education and Research and the JISC Information Environment programmes.
