Future-proofing the Past. Library Association of Ireland and CILIP Ireland Annual Joint Conference, SAS Radisson Hotel Athlone, 15-17 April 2008

This joint annual conference celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, and chose as its theme ‘Future-proofing the past’. The conference covered a wide range of topics, including this presentation on RDA by Ann Chapman. Resource Description and Access (RDA) is the new set of cataloguing guidelines being developed to replace the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules 2nd edition (AACR2). This presentation outlines the aims and objectives of RDA, the collaborative process by which RDA is being created, user and cataloguer benefits, and publication timing and other details.
