My Work for UKOLN 1987 to 2011

I started working for UKOLN in October 1987, having previously worked for the University of Bath Library from August 1969 to February 1976. Between 1976 and 1987 I worked as a freelance cataloguer on the Pitman Collection and the Bath and West Society Collection cataloguing projects for the University of Bath.

My work for UKOLN has been mainly in the area of Bibliographic Management and Collection Description. Bibliographic management is concerned with the quality, standards and formats of bibliographic records in both current and retrospective cataloguing for material in all physical and digital forms. It also includes performance measurement of bibliographic databases. Collection Description Focus provides a source of information, advice and support on all aspects of collection level description and the development of appropriate metadata standards.
