Developing for the Mobile Web

A one day workshop exploring how developers can reuse and create web content so that it works on variety of mobile devices using Cascading Style Sheets, HTML 5, Javascript and related tools.

This is a free one day workshop focussing on the Mobile Web. It is aimed at developers, web developers and systems administrators, who are interested in developing web applications and content that is mobile device friendly.

The day will include sessions on:

  • When to create Mobile Web applications over native applications
  • Leveraging CSS, HTML5 and JavaScript effectively
  • Tools available, such as frameworks for including maps

Time has also been allocated for a number of lightening sessions where delegates can talk about projects, technologies or issues that they think other attendees will find interesting.

A free lunch and refreshments will be provided.
The event will be held on Wednesday, 27 October 2010 at the Institute for Learning and Research Technology (ILRT), University of Bristol.

The event is being organised and supported by the MyMobileBristol and DevCSI projects.

MyMobileBristol is an exciting project being led by the Web Futures group at the Institute for Learning and Research Technology (ILRT), University of Bristol. The project is funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) under their Business and Community Engagement Programme. The workshop is part of several initiatives being undertaken by MyMobileBristol to facilitate communities of developers, data providers, policy makers and user groups to promote the development and deployment of innovative technologies.
