Support For Museums Galleries Scotland

MGS LogoAlthough UKOLN's funding from the MLA is to provide support for the museums, libraries and archives in England, thanks to additional financial support from Museums Galleries Scotland we are in a position to provide a limited level of support to museums and galleries in Scotland.

This support is based on an email list which is open to members of the Museums Galleries Scotland. In addition the various resources we have developed for the cultural heritage sector, including our IntroByte briefing documents and our Cultural Heritage blog will be used to enhance the support we provide to the sector.

About The Support Service

An email list, mgs-support@lists.ukoln.ac.uk, has been set up for full and associate members of Museums Galleries Scotland.

The list can be used for queries from approved organisations on topics related to UKOLN areas of expertise which includes use of the Social Web and Web 2.0, Collection level descriptions, digital preservation, digitisation standards and interoperability.

Who Provides The Support Service?

The support services is provided by Brian Kelly, Ann Chapman and Marieke Guy.

Links With UKOLN's Cultural Heritage Blog

UKOLN's Cultural Heritage blog will be used to complement the email support service. If we notice recurring themes and issues being raised this is likely to indicate a subject area of general interest to the community. We will attempt to address such issues on our blog in order to ensure that others can see the issues being raised and participate in the discussions.
