Government Information Locator Service

The goal of GILS is to make it easy for people to find information of all kinds, in all media, in all languages, and over time. Information providers can describe anything with GILS--not only books and datasets but people, events, meetings, artifacts, rocks.... For networked information, GILS supports "hyperlinks" for network access to the resource described or related resources. Any level of aggregation can be supported in GILS, and logically nesting of locators can be a powerful navigational aid.
