Audience

Representatives from data centres and data banks, Digital Repository Programme (DRP) Data Cluster projects and other data repository projects, DRP Research Team, JISC Curation Services, national centres and other relevant organisations.

This workshop aims to explore the roles and responsibilities of different organisations who are involved in the curation, preservation and management of research data. There will be a number of short presentations giving different perspectives on the current data and information landscape. Emerging challenges and issues will be discussed in breakout groups, with the aim of identifying specific recommendations to clarify key roles, responsibilities and inter-relationships to enhance collaborative working. The Workshop will be informed by a Briefing Paper which will be circulated in advance of the meeting.

Objectives

Format

The Workshop will include a mix of presentations, breakout groups and discussion and allow time for networking and collaboration.

Breakout Groups

Aims: To unpack and discuss a range of issues in some depth and to produce recommendations and priority actions in four discrete areas:

  1. Socio-cultural, organisational and legal aspects of collaborative working with data
  2. Federation models, interoperability and inter-relationships between data repositories
  3. Identifying individual and organisational roles and responsibilities for best practice
  4. Working with publishers and other cross-sectoral repository developments.
