Social Event 1: Workshop Dinner

The drinks reception and dinner will be held at the University on 11th June. Delegates will be invited to enjoy pre-dinner drinks on the University slope (between Eliot and Rutherford Colleges) overlooking the city followed by dinner in the Dining Hall of Rutherford College which also has wonderful views over Canterbury and the Cathedral. This will be a formal three-course dinner and entertainment will be supplied throughout the evening. It will include a jazz band during the dinner and a comedy club featuring members of the "Smile Politely" company in the nearby college bar to finish the evening.

Social Event 2: Drinks Reception

A drinks reception will be held at Canterbury Cathedral on Thursday 12th June. Coaches will collect delegates from the University and take them to the Cathedral between 18:15 and 18:30. Once at the Cathedral there will be a 45 minute tour followed by a drinks reception and some nibbles in the Chapter House. From 20:30 delegates have the evening to themselves for dinner and to explore Canterbury.

The Cathedral was founded in 597AD, Mother Church of the Anglican Communion. It has a romanesque crypt, twelfth century quire and thirteenth century stained glass windows. The Cathedral is the site of Thomas Becket's martyrdom and shrine and contains the tomb of the Black Prince. Further details can be found at <http://www.canterbury-cathedral.org/>.
