Feedback: Comments

The following comments were received on the "Overall Views of the Workshop" (please note that illegible text is replaced with ???:

• Extremely worthwhile-stimulates me to engage more in this area
• Interesting range of perspectives
• Very interesting content. Good speakers. Lunch - needed more seats
• Excellent - what about wiki's and work though? Too much time on students and learning
• A useful day for catching up with what other institutions are doing, and a number of provocative questions raised

The following comments were received on the "The Best Aspects of the Workshop":

• Case studies useful example of different approaches. Student representation. Reasonable balanced (in-house, out-source, combination)
• Directors and students views were brilliant. Wider range of roles represented by delegates
• Different views - interesting to compare reasoning. Having a wiki for the workshop, more interactivity
• To see different approaches institutions have taken. To get a more in-depth view of issues to be faced. Networking with colleagues

The following comments were received on the "Three aspects which were disappointing or could be improved":

• Getting tired of hearing the same arguments but no real exploration of needs (educational needs). Continuing tendency to let IT lead. More understanding of what students expect
• Did not gain much from discussion group
• Again no mention of accessibility issues, are we excluding a whole group of students by using inaccessible software? Venue - the theatre was great but I didn't like standing up to eat lunch and holding plates, cups, notes, bag etc.
• Discussion group could have been better led.

The following comments were received on "Use of the Technologies":

• Excellent use of technology
• Excellent. Details on the wireless connection needed to be in pack or in the auditorium
• Internet connection was good but didn't know until break what to do (no signs in all or announcement)
• Could you provide some laptops for people to use whilst here? Not everyone has their own or wants to bring one for a quick check of email
• Always good to see people trying to innovate and to share good and bad things they bring. Well supported before, during and after event.

The following comments were received on "Actions you Intend to Take as a Result of the Workshop":

• Look at interoperability of open source social tools with a view to creating user led customisations of social networking tools (including email)
• Find out more about web 2.0 technologies, use to them myself. Discuss with others (network colleagues)
• Whole gamut of issues-v.current. I'm a member of UCISA-?-LOT groups - is this a hot issue that should be picked up? Also regulations/assurance etc.
• Investigate the possibility of offering a centrally supported blogging service within the University of Edinburgh
• Make more use of technologies available and promote use in my team
• Check facebook etc groups set up by us. Think about risk management in this context
• I hope to take back many of the questions raised for discussion in my institution
• Student training on managing your online profile, possibly with SU. Testing AUP
