UKOLN - Web Focus - Making Web Sites Accessible

Brian Kelly (UKOLN) and Lawrie Phipps (TechDis) facilitated a half-day seminar on Making Web Sites Accessible which was held at the University of Nottingham on Thursday 7^th November 2002. The local organiser is Rachel Scudamore.

The seminar built on a previous event at Nottingham on Making Web sites Accessible.

Session Details

Aims And Objectives

This session will address issues concerned with accessibility of Web sites, with particular reference to recent disability legislation that requires the University to make all of its services accessible. By the end of the session, participants will:

have experience of a number of tools which can be used to check the accessibility of Web sites
have compared accessibility of key pages in their Web sites with other participants
have discussed various approaches to ensure that their Web sites comply with SENDA accessibility legislation.

Who Should Attend?

Staff responsible for managing and/or building University Web sites.

Process:

Tutor input, hands-on web site evaluation exercises and group discussions.
