Notes

+ Overall total given plus details for individual frames listed.
* Figures only given for the splash screen.
£ Contains frames and redirect. Information invalid due to analysis of redirects.

Why Is This Information Useful?

This survey can detect failures to comply with W3C Web Accessibility Initiative Guidelines on the organisation's home page. It also provides an indication of the file size of the home page.

How Can This Information Be Misinterpreted?

Only automated measure of the page's accessibility are given.

Only a single page is analysed.

The analysis may not report on the page which an end user sees, but on a redirect message, FRAMESET tags, etc.

The results may change over time.

The file sizes of entry points which used splash screens was not measured.

Review

Comments

The survey was initially carried out on 31 July 2001. It was repeated the following day and changes in some sites were noted. These have been recorded in the table above.

The survey was then repeated on 23 April 2002.

Note that for pages containing frames, Bobby reports on the master frameset. A manual approach was needed in order to analyse the individual frames.

Accessibility

Of the 18 Web sites surveyed, 8 (44.4%) had no P1 errors in the initial survey, although one of these sites had a P1 error the next day.

When the survey was repeated on 1 Web site had no P1 errors.

File Sizes

The largest entry point in the initial survey appeared to be Belfast City Council (153.91 Kb). The smallest entry point appeared to be Isle of Anglesey CC (22.22 Kb).

When the survey was repeated it was found that Bobby did not provide information on file sizes.
