UKOLN Interoperability Focus: The Bath Profile

From 1999 to 2001, Interoperability Focus contributed to the development of the Bath Profile.

The Bath Profile is an ISO Internationally Registered Profile (IRP) of the Z39.50 Information Retrieval Protocol, intended as a basis for effective interoperability between library and cross-domain applications. Conformance to this Profile's specifications improves international or extranational search and retrieval among library catalogues, union catalogues, and other electronic resource discovery services worldwide.

This Profile was the result of a process of international collaboration, that built upon previous work in Europe, North America and Australia. Initial development of the Profile was undertaken with financial assistance from the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC)

The Profile is now maintained by the Library and Archives of Canada.

For further information and for details of current work, see the Library and Archives of Canada Bath Profile Web site at http://www.collectionscanada.ca/bath/
