An International Seminar on National Digital Cultural Content Creation Strategies

A number of policies and frameworks already exist in countries and regions around the world, which served as background to the issues under discussion at this meeting. The list, below, is far from complete and intended merely to provide a flavour of what is being done. A fuller list is under preparation as one of the meeting outcomes.

Vision

• Scientific, Industrial, and Cultural Heritage: a shared approach — A research framework for digital libraries, museums and archives, a paper compiled by Lorcan Dempsey, and based upon input from an expert group considering the shape of the European Commission's Fifth Framework research programme.
• Culture Online, the Government's vision for the UK

Policy

• The Lund Principles, arising from a European Commission-brokered meeting in Sweden earlier this year.
• Europe's e-Europe Action Plan, outlining efforts to put Europe firmly online

Technology

• nof-digitise Technical Standards and Guidelines, a set of technical standards mandated across this £50,000,000 programme, plus associated guidance notes.
• Ongoing work on a technical architecture for Further and Higher Education's DNER in the UK.
