Introduction

Videoconferencing is an area that many teacher training providers and cultural sector organisation wish to explore, but feel that they need more help in planning and implementing systems and solutions. Even when funding has been available from organisations such as the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) and the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council(MLA), some organisations are not sure of how to proceed, and many projects experienced delays and several have had to rethink their whole approach before making progress.

In order to help address these issues, the TDA and MLA in partnership with JANET will be hosting an event dedicated to raising videoconferencing awareness and to promote the use of videoconferencing via JANET and the JANET Videoconferencing Service (JVCS).

This follows a series of similar regional events held in November 2006 by the TDA and JANET.
