MODELS 6
A distributed national electronic resource?
Breakout sessions
There are two breakout sessions of 45 minutes on the first day, when the
workshop will divide into five groups. One question has been set for the first
session, which will be addressed by all groups. For the second session, separate
topics are described below. Reporting back to the main group will take place
immediately after each breakout. A chair has been identified for each session
and the group should nominate a rapporteur.
Session 1: user vision
All groups should address the following:
- Describe several user-oriented information access and use scenarios
- What are the current obstacles to achieving these scenarios? List no more
than five.
Session 2: organisational & technical issues
Group 1: organisational issues
- How well do libraries support the scenarios identified in session 1?
- How should they be addressing the obstacles identified?
Group 2: organisational issues
- How well do information providers (eg BL, BIDS, SilverPlatter) support the
scenarios identified in session 1?
- How should they be addressing the obstacles identified?
Group 3: organisational issues
- How well do existing national policy and cooperative frameworks (eg CEI,
BL, CURL) support the scenarios identified in session 1?
- How should they be addressing the obstacles identified?
Groups 4 and 5: technical issues
- Develop a critique of the draft MODELS Information Architecture (MIA) by
matching the models against existing projects and services
- Which functional areas identified in MIA are currently not well served?
