DIY Dublin Core Collections Application Profile (Collections DCAP)

A structured set of metadata attributes for describing catalogues and indices using the Collections DCAP.

General attributes

dc:type

The nature or genre of the resource, i.e. dcmitype:Collection

Collection Identifier

dc:identifier

A URI for the collection

Title

dc:title

The name of the collection.

Alternative Title

dcterms:alternative

Any form of name used as a substitute or alternative to the formal name of the collection

Description

dcterms:abstract

A summary description of the catalogue or index.

Catalogue or Index Type

dc:type

The type of the catalogue or index.

Size

dcterms:extent

The size of the catalogue or index.

Language

dc:language

A language of the items in the catalogue or index.

Item Type

cld:itemType

The nature or genre of one or more items within the catalogue or index.

Item Format

cld:itemFormat

A media type, physical or digital, of one or more items within the catalogue or index.

Rights

dc:rights

A statement of any rights held in/over the catalogue or index.

Access Rights

dcterms:accessRights

A statement of any access restrictions placed on the catalogue or index, including allowed users, charges, etc.

Accrual Method

dcterms:accrualMethod

A method by which items are added to the catalogue or index.

Accrual Periodicity

dcterms:accrualPeriodicity

A frequency with which items are added to the catalogue or index.

Accrual Policy

dcterms:accrualPolicy

A policy governing the addition of items to the catalogue or index.

Custodial History

dcterms:provenance

A statement of any changes in ownership and custody of the catalogue or index that are significant for its authenticity, integrity and interpretation.

Audience

dcterms:audience

A class of entity for whom the catalogue or index is intended or useful.

Dates Collection Accumulated

dcterms:created

A range of dates over which the catalogue or index was accumulated.

Dates Items Created

cld:dateItemsCreated

A range of dates over which the individual items within the catalogue or index were created.

Relationships between the Catalogue or Index and Agents
