The impact of information technology and of electronic publishing is being felt both by libraries and by the institutions which they serve. One result is a wider recognition that problems of information management are a corporate concern and that library planning is a component of the overall information strategy of an organisation. Integrated planning and management of library and computing services is a logical consequence of an IT-based infrastructure.
